When you take a look at this interactive map it is worth keeping in mind that back in 2007 the total value of Mobile Commerce transactions conducted in the USA was worth just $398 Million. This week the New York Times reports that eBay expects $1.5 billion in gross merchandise sales via mobile this year while Amazon has said it has sold $1 Billion in product over mobile devices last year (See EBay Shows Where Mobile Shopping Is Hot).
So in the same period the total value of eRetailing in the US has grown from $127 Billion to $141 Billion (i.e. 11%) – See What Black Friday can tell us about the state of E-Commerce in the US Today - mCommerce has grown by over 500% and now represents just over 3% of all eRetail transactions.
