Facebook vs TV

Spied a very simple infographic over at Information is Beautiful comparing the time spent watching TV in the US in 2010 to the time it has taken to create Wikipedia. It was inspired by Clay Shirky’s cognitive surplus presentation circa mid-2010.

Anyway I thought I would mash this idea together with the stats released last month in this “state of the nation” presentation from Facebook to create this 2010 retrographic: A summary of the time America spent on Facebook vs the time they spent watching TV (i.e 200 Billion hours vs 12 Billion hours or 6%). It seemed like such an elegant response to all those excitable claims that Facebook has killed TV
